I am seeking election as Deputy Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales with the aims of:
- Enabling our party to substantially increase our representation on
elected bodies at all levels across the country - Growing and better supporting our membership base
- Raising our profile as the sole party to trust on environmental issues
Climate change must remain high on the political agenda. As the only party to offer serious solutions we must gain more elected positions in order to put into practice as many elements as possible of our manifesto.
We must raise people’s awareness of our other policies. The Conservative–LibDem coalition are committed to austerity at all costs. The Labour opposition are adrift with nothing more than a watered down version of the same.
Working together we must make greater gains in all the elections we contest. As Deputy Leader I would work to maintain our electoral focus and increase support provided to local parties. We have over 150 elected councillors now; we must strengthen and broaden this base.
We must also grow our membership. It is fantastic that so many people have joined in the last few years and we must expand further if we are to have the resources to give people a Green choice everywhere and at every election..
If elected I shall focus on these aims, working closely with the other members of GPEX, the Party Leader and in consultation with GPRC.
